Karen is an experienced and qualified marketing and public relations professional based in the North East of England. Her consultancy company, formed in 1996, provides a broad range of strategic marketing and public relations support and services. She works at both a regional and national level, her experience spans both the public and private sectors and ranges from multi-nationals such as British Energy and Merrill Lynch to regional SMEs and Local Authorities to charities and Third Sector organisations. Her early career was spent in the precision engineering sector prior to a number of years in both management and consultancy roles with Deloitte and Coopers & Lybrand.

A specialist and pragmatic trainer, she works with a number of blue-chip organisations in media, crisis communications management and presentation skills development.

Separately, under her training brand 'The Interface – serious fun!' Karen and her team deliver work-related learning and employability skills training to school students. Designed to be dynamic and competitive, these conferences deliver a no-holds barred message to young people about the needs and expectations of employers and their responsibilities as employees.

Karen is a Trustee of the Esh Charitable Trust; leading regional homelessness charity, The Cyrenians; University of Newcastle upon Tyne Union Society; Durham County Cricket Club Foundation and is a visiting lecturer at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. She was elected a Fellow to the Chartered Institute of Marketing in 2008.
