Dr Graeme Codrington, The Academy's Speaker of the Year 2007, is an expert on the new world of work and multigenerational workplaces.
As a writer, speaker and strategy consultant, he has helped thousands of business leaders get more from their people and improve sales by understanding the forces that are shaping the new world of work. His unique style blends cutting-edge research, thought leading insights with humour and multimedia-driven presentations and workshops.
Speaking internationally to over 100,000 people every year, he has shared the platform with the likes of Edward de Bono, Jonas Ridderstrale, Sir Ken Robinson and Neil Armstrong. His client list includes some of the world's top companies, and CEOs invite him back time after time to share his latest insights. Graeme is a visiting professor at four top business schools, including the London Business School. He has a Doctorate in Business Administration and three best-selling books published by Penguin. Graeme is the co-founder of TomorrowToday, a global consulting firm with a successful track record of helping companies connect with their most valuable customers and talented staff, in a manner that drives down costs and increases sales. Yet, Graeme's sessions are anything but dry and academic. He is quick to engage, passionate about customising for the audience and is superb at ensuring participants take away practical value that makes a real difference to their lives and their businesses. He is at his best when engaging with groups and individuals.
Graeme's breadth of knowledge and expertise makes him highly relevant in today's rapidly evolving business world. He has formal qualifications in business administration, accounting, theology and sociology, and a wide range of business experience, from articles at KPMG to an IT startup, and professional musician to strategy consultant. His experience and depth of knowledge combine together with his conversational and humorous presentation style. He ensures that participants leave his sessions inspired and equipped to immediately apply what they have learnt for lasting impact in their companies.
His most successful sessions at The Academy to date have involved his internationally recognised expertise in understanding different generations. "Mind the Gap" is an award winning presentation that uses multimedia to help participants understand people who are older and younger than themselves, and apply this understanding in multiple areas within their businesses and personal lives. This is the best presentation to use if you have not yet had Graeme speak to your group. Although there are other speakers who might refer to different generations (think "Boomers", "Xers", "Generation Y", etc), no-one is able to present a framework of understanding, bring the subject alive or apply it as thoroughly, with such business impact, as Graeme can.
Graeme has also worked with Academy groups in specifically applying his understanding of generations to the issue of attracting and retaining talented staff – both younger generations and the older Baby Boomers who are unlikely to want to retire. In a session entitled "The Talent Challenge" he explains the six factors required to successfully engage talented people in business. This can be done as a stand alone session, or as a follow up to "Mind the Gap".
Graeme's latest workshop is entitled "After Shock". It look at the five key drivers of disruptive change that will shape the world of work in the next 3 to 5 years. These are: Technology, Institutional upheaval, changing Demographics, the Environment and shifting Societal values (the T.I.D.E.S. of change!). This is an extremely interactive session, beginning with the context of the new world of work, and then dealing with each of the five disruptive forces in turn. After a brief introduction to each, using his standard approach that combines multimedia, case studies and practical tips, Graeme allows 15-20 minutes of discussion, with a focus on practical applications to your group's members. After doing this for each of the five forces, the session ends with a case study that pulls all of them together, and concludes on a strategic and inspirational note.
